The Arakan National Party held a press conference on March 6, which was led by the party’s Central Executive Committee member Kyaw Myint, a former member of the Arakan League for Democracy, who explained that the ANP’s statement No 1/2016 did not represent the views of all ANP leaders.
Statement No 1/ 2016 demanded that the chief minister of Rakhine State must be a parliament representative from the ANP. Otherwise, the statement said, the ANP would join the opposition in parliament. The statement also announced that the ANP is no longer cooperating with the United Nationalities Alliance (UNA).
The party members at the press conference also issued another statement following the conference. (Courtesy of Eleven Myanmar)
